Gynecological preventive healthcare:

Annual gynecologic examination benefits:

The most important cause for this annual exam is a Pap smear, for screening precancerous cervical lesions and cervical cancer. While women may not need to take this smear yearly, as the recent recommendations say that women at ages between 21 and 29 need to have a pap smear every 3 years,  and those who are aged between 30 and  65 should have a pap smear every 3-5 years.

During the annual visits, the healthcare providers try to detect any risk factors in women's health and any potential medical problem.

They screen for many diseases like :

  • Ovarian tumors

  • Breast cancer

  • Bone disease and osteoporosis

  • Sexually transmitted diseases

  • Menstrual abnormalities

  • Bladder  diseases

  • The practitioner also performs a pelvic exam to examine the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, urinary bladder, and vagina.

  • Moreover, they help in choosing suitable contraceptive methods and in pregnancy  control
