About Doctor Margaret A. Burns, MD:

Dr. Margaret Burns, MD, FACOG grew up in Upstate New York. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology at SUNY Buffalo. She joined Hahnemann Medical College for her Medical degree Between her 3rd and 4th years of medical school, she was accepted for a medical student fellowship in Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania .

 

She published the first article to describe fallopian tube metaplasia of the endometrium with her mentor Dr. Itian Yeh. Dr. Margaret  returned to Hahnemann Medical College where she graduated as the top student in her class. Following medical school, she returned to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology. 


Dr. Margaret started working for Bryn Mawr Women's Health Associates in 1995 and she is still employed there. She currently treats both obstetrics and gynecology patients. She has 3 offices in Rosemont, Newtown Square, and Haverford. 

 

Newly, Dr. Margaret did the first Gentle Cesarean Section at Bryn Mawr Hospital. This is a procedure that allows cesarean section patients to see the delivery of their babies and doing the skin-to-skin contact directly after birth.

Dr. Burns lives in Newtown Square.

Bryn Mawr Hospital was established in 1893, in Pennsylvania, the western outskirts of Philadelphia that is part of Main Line Health, A not-for-profit community health system, comprising Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Hospital, Riddle Hospital, and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital.


Bryn Mawr received Chest Pain Center accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers in 2010. Then, in 2011, United State News & World Report graded Bryn Mawr Hospital as one of the best hospitals in the Philadelphia region and, in the same year, Bryn Mawr Hospital was recognized as a Top 100 Hospital and a Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital by Thomson Reuters.
